CINCINNATI, Ohio -- The Bengals signed quarterback Jason Campbell to be Andy Daltons backup on Thursday, a move that brings the franchise full circle in several ways. Nikita Zaitsev Jersey . Campbells broken collarbone with the Raiders midway through the 2011 season had deep reverberations in Cincinnati. The injury prompted then-Raiders coach Hue Jackson to lobby for a trade with the Bengals, who sent them Carson Palmer for a first-round pick and a conditional second-round pick. Palmer was holding out, saying hed never play again for the Bengals. Bengals owner Mike Brown was inclined to keep Palmer and make him sit out. The generous offer from Oakland forced him to reconsider. The Raiders got the trade but failed to reach the playoffs, Jackson was fired and Campbell moved on to Chicago. Jackson was rehired as an assistant in Cincinnati and was elevated to offensive co-ordinator when Jay Gruden left for Washington after last season. Campbells familiarity with Jackson was attractive to both the quarterback and the Bengals, who decided to sign their third backup in the last three years. "He reached out to me but he didnt want to be the forefront guy that was pushing this," Campbell said. "He wanted the other coaches to make sure they were on board to make the right decision. "I came in for a visit and was able to connect, and I liked everything and the direction it was going in." Campbell started his nine-year career with Washington. He also has played for Oakland, Chicago and Cleveland, where he started eight of the Browns last nine games last season. Dalton has been durable during his three seasons in Cincinnati, with Bruce Gradkowski and Josh Johnson getting little playing time. Johnson was the backup last season and got into two lopsided wins at the end, but didnt throw a pass. The Bengals have reached the playoffs in all three of Daltons seasons and lost in the first round. Dalton has struggled in two playoff losses at Houston and a 27-10 loss at home to San Diego last season. The Bengals think Campbells familiarity with Jacksons coaching methods can benefit Dalton in the transition to a new co-ordinator. Jackson is expected to emphasize the run more next season. "If he asks a question of what Hue is thinking or how did you do this before, I think those are some aspects that I can help him along with because of some of my experience within the offence," Campbell said. "That really pays dividends. "On the other side of it, this is a big year for him coming up. I can help with film study and being an extra set of eyes." Darcy Tucker Jersey . The Thornhill, Ont., native, who is ranked 11th in the world, said hed hoped he would be ready when Canada begins its World Group first-round tie against Japan in Tokyo on Friday. Rasmussen didnt have a decision during his four appearances in May, when he gave up two hits and no runs in two innings. Toronto used five relievers while pulling off the second-biggest comeback in franchise history on Friday night, rallying from an 8-0 deficit to a 14-9 win. MIAMI -- It took eight starts, but Jacob deGrom finally has a win in the big leagues. deGrom pitched seven scoreless innings to earn his first major league win for the New York Mets in a 4-0 victory against the Miami Marlins on Saturday. "To have a performance like that and get the win feels good," said deGrom. "I have a lot of people here from the Daytona area, which is only about four hours away, and my whole family is here." deGrom (1-4), who was the first Mets starting pitcher to go winless in his first seven starts, struck out seven as he allowed five hits and issued three walks. "He had all his pitches working and he was throwing them all for strikes at any count," Mets third baseman David Wright said. "Its a lot of fun to play defence behind him because he works so quickly and effectively." Lucas Duda hit a two-run home run, his 10th, and Wright had three hits and an RBI for New York, which has won three of four. It was the second shutout in the series for the Mets as Zack Wheeler tossed a 1-0 shut out on Thursday. "Right now were in a little bit of a spell where were not able to get the consecutive hits and get a little bit of a rally going, but we will," Marlins manager Mike Redmond said. Jeurys Familia pitched the eighth and Jenrry Mejia came in for the ninth to preserve the shut out. Marlins starter Tom Koehler (5-6) retired the first 11 batters he faced before allowing two runs and four hits in seven innings while striking out eight. "It was nice to get through seven and get out of the jam in the sixth, but at the same time its a little frustrating giving up those two runs and not really getting those bunts down -- thats really kinnd of eating at me right now," Koehler said. Wendel Clark Jersey. . Miami second baseman Rafael Furcal left the game in the fourth inning with a left calf and hamstring and injury after grounding out to end the third. Furcal, who missed the first 2 1-2 months of the season with hamstring and groin injuries, was scheduled to have an MRI after the game. "It definitely doesnt sound good," Redmond said. Before the game shortstop Adeiny Hechavarria was scratched from the starting lineup with soreness in his elbow on his throwing arm, but could be in the lineup on Sunday. "He was availabe if we needed him to hit, I think the throwing was the biggest concern for him today, but Im anticipating him being ready for tomorrow, but well see," Redmond said. Chris Young hit a two-out single in the fourth to give the Mets a 1-0 lead and Wright singled home a run in the sixth for a two-run advantage. Miamis best opportunity to score came in the sixth after Giancarlo Stanton stole third base with one out, but deGrom retired the next two batters to end the threat. "He made some real, real good pitches with his slider today, and he used his change-up to right handers effectively today," Mets manager Terry Collins said. "He certainly deserved to win." Dudas home run to right field came off Chris Hatcher in the ninth inning to give the Mets a 4-0 cushion. NOTES: Marlins teammates Garrett Jones and Jeff Baker celebrated their 32nd birthdays today. ... Mets RF Curtis Granderson has reached base safely in his last 30 starts. ... When New York City FC plays its first home game in the MLS next season, it will be at Yankee Stadium. Frederik Andersen Jersey . According to the New York Times, sources familiar with the situation say the team will play its first three seasons in the home of the Bronx Bombers. The team, which is owned by the Yankees and English Premier League club Manchester City, is expected to make the announcement next week. Initial plans were for a new stadium to be built in Flushing Meadows - home of the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, the current venue for the U.S. Open tennis tournament, as well as Citi Field, home of the New York Mets. However, community opposition eventually crushed the rumoured $300 million stadium. In August of last year, Yankees president Randy Levine spoke of ongoing negotiations for a piece of land that would fit a 25,000-30,000 seat stadium. No progress has been made since. So, the club will settle for Yankee Stadium for the next three years. City and fellow Premier League club Chelsea played an exhibition match at the venue on temporarily installed grass in 2013. The challenge now is to see if the switch between baseball and soccer can be made for NYCFCs entire home schedule, which is 17 of 34 regular season contests. William Nylander Jersey . SZKLARSKA POREBA, Poland - Canadas Alex Harvey is tearing through the cross-country World Cup ahead of the Winter Games. Yonder Alonso Jersey . The St-Ferreol-les-Neiges, Que., native won gold Saturday in a skate-sprint race for his fourth World Cup medal in the last month. "The conditions were getting icy and a little dangerous so I knew I had to get out in front. I wasnt afraid of being tired because I knew I was in great shape so my tactic was to stay out in front today. I had no choice," said Harvey. "The final was filled with pure sprinters, but I wasnt afraid of them or getting tired today because I knew the shape is there." The World Cup victory is Harveys third of his career in addition to his world championship. "I know the Scandinavian countries werent here today but the Russians have been the ones to beat in sprinting and I was able to do that today," said Harvey. "The skis were great today, and Im confident with the Olympics coming up." Carlos Carrasco Jersey .J. -- Omar Cummings helped the Houston Dynamo advance to the MLS Eastern Conference finals. Bob Feller Jersey . "Im not even that added up," the 39-year-old Australian replied. And to the Hall of Famers surprise, when all the math was done Sunday in the JTBC Founders Cup, she was the one posing for pictures with the big trophy. http://www.indiansteamproshop.com/India … ds-Jersey/ . As Valanciunas was whistled for a rare technical toward the end of the third quarter - a result of waving his hand at an official after being called for a foul - Lowry pulled the Raptors sophomore aside, corralling him by his jersey and patting him on the back.SPARTA, Ky. -- Brad Keselowski wont soon forget an eventful Saturday night in which the same right hand that held the winners trophy was soon bloodied and bandaged after he broke a champagne bottle celebrating. "We were playing around with some champagne and I told my good friend I should have stuck with beer," Keselowski joked after receiving four stitches in the infield care centre. "We had too much fun with champagne and one of the bottles broke and I cut my hand open. Its no big deal." Hell certainly remember the masterful performance that set those wild series of events in motion. Keselowski showed early and often that his No. 2 Ford was the best car at Kentucky Speedway, dominating the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race to become the tracks first repeat winner. The Penske Racing driver and 2012 race winner and Cup champion followed his record-breaking pole effort to lead 199 of 267 laps en route to his second victory of the season and 12th of his career. Keselowski won from the pole for the first time, pulling away after rallying from sixth on a restart to chase down and pass leader Kyle Busch on Lap 248. "I knew it was going to be a dogfight to get back to Kyle and then race him," Keselowski said. "We got there with a really fast car and I hit the perfect run on him with traffic. Next thing I knew, we were there. It feels really good to get that second win." Busch was second, followed by Ryan Newman, Matt Kenseth and Dale Earnhardt Jr., who rallied from a 29th-place start. A night after dominating the Nationwide Series race before finishing second to Kevin Harvick, partly because of a pit-road speeding penalty, Keselowski saved his heavy foot for the bumpy, rough track. The 2012 Cup champion went on to win by 1.014 seconds and post his ninth top-10 this season in moving one spot to fourth in the standings. Teammate Joey Logano started second and led 37 laps before a dropped cylinder left him ninth. Busch led 31 in a race that featured 12 lead changes -- all but one featuring Penske drivers. "I felt like we were better than (Newman), but nowhere near as good as (Keselowski) or (Logano)," Busch said. "Those guys were really stout.. Bradley Zimmer Jersey. " Keselowski, also the winner in Las Vegas, became the first driver this season with multiple victories on 1.5-mile tracks that make up much of the Chase for the Sprint Cup. The circuit wont see another such track until late August at Atlanta, and Keselowski made a case for being a favourite with arguably the most impressive run of his career. It followed his track-record qualifying speed of 188.791 mph and 138 laps led in the Nationwide race, which also featured a furious late run before settling for second to Harvick, who was seventh in the 400-mile race. This time he had enough laps to pass Busch. But the tone was set from the start, as Keselowski and Logano justified their front-row qualifying sweep with a vengeance. Keselowski wasted no time with that agenda, taking charge at the green flag and leading the first 78 laps before Logano took over for five laps. The two traded leads from there with nobody else to challenge them until Aric Almirolas wreck brought the sixth caution on Lap 213. That sent the leaders down pit road and scramble off produced the races first non-Penske leader in Busch, whose No. 18 took over on Lap 217 and led the restart with Newman second. The Penske duo needed just seven laps to draw a bead on both drivers and Keselowski was soon second and making a furious effort trying to chase down Busch, who had a 2-second lead at one point. Once Keselowski caught him in the backstretch, he again showed his Fords superiority. "Our car was awesome," said Keselowski, who has led a series-high 346 laps in four starts at Kentucky. Earnhardt, Jimmie Johnson and Tony Stewart meanwhile overcame bad starting spots to finish in the top 11. Johnson was 10th after starting 25th and Stewart recovered from a 42nd-place start because of a transmission change for 11th. He had qualified 13th. "I would have liked to have been a little better than what we were there at the end," Stewart said, "but I think we definitely had to fight our way up through the day. .. All in all I thought we had a pretty honest day there; cant complain about that." Points leader Jeff Gordon finished sixth and leads Johnson and Earnhardt by 24. NEWARK, N. Odubel Herrera Jersey .J. -- For seven years, Miikka Kiprusoff was a constant in net for the Calgary Flames. Karri Ramo might be the next in line. Ramo made 31 saves to record his second NHL shutout and Mark Giordano scored the only goal as the Flames topped the New Jersey Devils 1-0 on Monday night. "He reminds me of (Kiprusoff)," Giordano said of Ramo. "His style is similar. Theyre quick guys. We really have a lot of confidence in our goaltending." Calgary improved to 34-38-7 overall, including 16-20-4 on the road this season. "Its just a hard-working group," Flames coach Bob Hartley said. "Were going to fight until the last second. I love this group." Cory Schneider stopped 21 of 22 shots for New Jersey, which fell to 34-29-16. New Jerseys loss also allowed the New York Rangers to clinch a playoff berth. Both Calgary and the Devils have three games remaining this season. The Devils are three points behind Columbus for the last playoff spot in the East. "In my opinion, I think were going to get one more chance (to make the playoffs)," New Jerseys Jaromir Jagr said. "Its too strange to finish like that. Youve got to believe. It wouldnt make any sense to finish like that. We dominated. Just keep the faith and I think were going to get one more chance in my opinion. "Well see if Im right or wrong." Neither the Flames nor Devils scored until Giordanos power-play goal 23 seconds into the third as both teams were unable to take advantage of opportunities. Giordanos goal, his 14th of the season, was a one-timer off a feed from Jiri Hudler. "You like those (passes)," Giordano said. "Rolling pucks, goalies have (a tough time) picking it up (and) I picked it up pretty (well)." While Giordano celebrated his good fortune, the Devils lamented their misfortune. The Devils outshot Calgary 22-16 through two periods, and finished with a 31-22 advantage. New Jersey also did not allow the Flames a shot on goal in a 15-minute span between the first and second periods. "(We) had chances and opportunities and didnt stick it in the back of the net," Devils coach Pete DeBoer said. "A common theme, (we) dont score easily and we hadnt all year. Were at mercy of games like this where margin of error is very small. I thought defensively we were very good, but when you cant score its hard to win." New Jersey had a goal disallowed with 1:26 left in the first, as referee Brad Watson waved off what would have been a game-opening score by Ryan Carter. The ruling was upheld by a video review by the NHL in Toronto. Replays showed Carter kicked the puck, but it was inconclusive whether the Devils left wing was able to get his stick on it before it rolled under Ramo. "I saw it off my foot and between the goaltenders pads, I got a piece of it (with my stick) and thats what propelled it in," Carter said. "I dont think (the review in Toronto is) how I saw it. Thats how it was." Calgary was unable to convert on four power plays in the first two periods, and rookie left wing Kenny Agostinos semi-breakaway with 1:34 left in the second was sticked away by Schneider. The play began as New Jersey right wing Tuomo Ruutu committed a turnover in the offensive zone, and ended with Devils defenceman Jon Merrill committing a slashing minor as he tried to affect the shot attempt. "Its a great learning experience for them," Hartley said of the Flames rookies, who have had to play at even strength and on specialty teams this season. "Kenny had a good game. "I felt he generated scoring chances out there." Merrills slash led directly to Giordanos goal. Calgary finished 1-for-5 on the power play, while New Jersey was 0-for-3. NOTES: The game marked the first time Agostino played as a professional in New Jersey. Agostino, who grew up a half-hour away from the Prudential Center, was traded from Pittsburgh to Calgary along with right wing Ben Hanowski and the Penguins 2013 first round pick last March for Jarome Iginla. "Its going to be a cool experience," Agostino said before the game. "Its a building Ive seen a lot of games in, so its going to be fun." Agostino estimated he had a cheering section of at least "40." ... SAN FRANCISCO -- Tony Campana and Cliff Pennington made the most of their rare starts for the Arizona Diamondbacks. Mark Grace Jersey . Campana drove Pennington in with the go-ahead run on an RBI single with two outs in the 10th inning to lead the Diamondbacks to their first back-to-back wins of the season with a 6-5 victory over the San Francisco Giants on Thursday night. "Its just us being ready," Campana said. "We both kind of kept our routine the same. You kind of come in every day ready to play. Today we got the start and both did a pretty good job at the plate and got the win." Campana had a career-high four hits and Pennington added three, including a two-run single as both players made just their second starts of the young season. "Theyre not rookies, and they prepare themselves properly," manager Kirk Gibson said. "They were ready to play tonight." Miguel Montero also drove in two runs for the Diamondbacks, who won the final two games of the series. Michael Morse hit a two-run double that gave the Giants the lead, but an error by third baseman Pablo Sandoval allowed the tying run to score in the eighth and San Francisco fell in extra innings to lose their first home series since last August against Boston. Pennington hit a one-out single off Yusmeiro Petit (0-1) in the 10th and then stole second base on a 2-2 pitch to Campana with two outs. Campana then blooped a single just over the outstretched glove of second baseman Brandon Hicks to score the go-ahead run. "It took some pressure off once he got to second," Campana said. "I knew I just had to get it through the infield somehow. Got jammed and got over his head barely." J.J. Putz (1-0) pitched a scoreless ninth for the win and Addison Reed got three outs for his third save in as many chances. The Diamondbacks failed to score in the seventh after loading the bases with no outs, but got the tying run an inning later on Sandovals bad throw. With runners on first and second and two outs in the eighth, Campana hit a slow grounder to Sandoval, who rushed his throw to first. The ball sailed over Brandon Belts head allowing Gerardo Parra to score the tying run from second. "You have to keep your poise," manager Bruce Bochy said. "He got in a rush mode there. With the game on the line, you have to be a bit more cautious. You have to know the situation." Sandoval had a chance to make up for that mistake in the bottom half but couldnt deliver. The Giants loaded the bases with one out with help from a fly to centre that Campana misjudged to give Brandon Crawford a leadoff double. Belt hit a fly ball to left field that was not deep enough to let Crawford tag from third. Sandoval then flied out to deep right to end the inning. The Diamondbacks jumped on top early against Ryan Vogelsong with a two-run single by Pennington in the second inning and a two-run double by Montero in the third to take a 4-1 lead. The Giants hitters chipped away after the early deficit, getting a run in the third on the first bunt single of Buster Poseys career when he surprised Arizona with a two-out bunt with Angel Pagan on third. Back-to-back doubles by Morse and Crawford to open the fourth made it 4-3 and Morses double off Will Harris in the fifth gave the Giants the lead. NOTES: Arizona manager Kirk Gibson unsuccessfully challenged a play at second base in the first inning when Campana was caught stealing to end the inning after a strikeout to Paul Goldschmidt. ... Park fired a 10-under 62 to match Mirim Lees course record, which Lee set about an hour and a half earlier. Park finished two rounds at 18-under 126. Park and Suzann Pettersen had set the 36-hole scoring mark at this event in 2012 when they posted a two-round total of 134. Park smashed that record on Friday. Everything was working really good out there today. I probably didnt hit as close as yesterday, but I holed a lot of putts today, Park said. Obviously, two days without the wind here in Taiwan is really unusual and I thought I should take advantage of that for two days and I feel like I did that. Shanshan Feng, who shared the first round lead with Park, closed with back-to- back birdies for a 7-under 65. Feng is alone in second place at Miramar Golf Country Club at minus-15. Lee jumped into a share of third place at 10-under-par 134. She was joined there by Lydia Ko (65), Azahara Munoz (66) and Line Vedel (68). Stacy Lewis, who lost the top spot in the world rankings to Park last Monday, stands alone in seventh place at 9-under 135 after a second-round 68. Park and Feng were in the final group together, and both got off to quick starts. They both birdied the first two holes. Park made it three in a row as she also birdied the par-3 third. However, Park stumbled to a bogey at the fourth to dip one behind Feng, who birdied the fourth. Park bounced right back with birdies at five and six to get to 12-under. Feng got up and downn for birdie at the par-5 sixth to remain tied with Park at minus-12. Ben Zobrist Jersey. Feng made it two in a row as she also birdied the seventh from eight feet out. Park once again had an answer. She holed her second shot for eagle on the par-4 eighth. That jumped her to 14-under, where she led by one. She would not lose the lead again. Around the turn, Park made a birdie putt from the back fringe at the 10th. She pitched her third shot at the par-5 12th to four feet and rolled that in for birdie. Park notched back-to-back birdies at 14 and 15 to move to 18-under. She had a chance to shoot 59 with three more birdies, but she parred the last three holes to card a 62. Yeah, definitely thought it was possible going into 13 and 14, because coming down the stretch, I thought there was a lot of birdie holes. Especially the last, its a par-5, Park said when asked if she thought about shooting 59. Feng, who was one down at the turn, stumbled to bogeys at 10 and 11 to slide four behind. She got one stroke back at the 12th. Feng climbed back to minus-13 as she made birdie on the par-3 14th. After a pair of pars, Feng birdied the final two holes to get within three shots after two rounds. NOTES: Park has the 36-hole lead for the second time this season and for the seventh time in her LPGA Tour career .. Park has won just two of the previous six times she was in this position ... Danielle Kang aced the par-3 17th giving her a hole-in-one for the second straight week ... Kang has three aces this season, which tied her with Charlotta Sorenstam (2002) and Tracy Kerdyk (1991) for the LPGA Tour record for most in one season. Lawrence, KS (SportsNetwork. Wholesale Bears Jerseys China .com) - Kelly Oubre, Jr. posted 19 points to go with nine rebounds, as No. 11 Kansas put together a late rally to subdue 19th- ranked Oklahoma, 85-78, in a battle of long-time conference rivals from Allen Fieldhouse. Perry Ellis totaled 16 points and eight boards for the Jayhawks (15-3, 4-1 Big 12), while Cliff Alexander contributed 13 points and 13 rebounds for the hosts. Buddy Hields game-high 26 points wasnt enough for the Sooners (12-6, 2-4). Isaiah Cousins had 18 points and Ryan Spangler picked up 13 with 10 rebounds in defeat. Kansas held a 39-19 lead in the first half, but Oklahoma completely reversed momentum thanks to an extended 22-11 run in the second half which ended on a three-point play by Hield which gave the visitors a 69-65 advantage inside five minutes left in regulation. The Jayhawks didnt assume the lead again until a triple from Brannen Green produced a 73-71 edge with 3:24 to play off a missed field goal from Oubre. Frank Mason followed with a bucket and a four-point margin before Cousins converted from long distance on the Sooners next touch. But the hosts got some breathing room on Alexanders slam and an Oubre jumper sandwiched around back-to-back misses from beyond the arc by Hield and Cousins. Hield made two free throws to close Oklahomas gap to 79-76, but Oubre hit an easy layup with 55 seconds to go and the visitors never threatened down the stretch. Kansas established the outside game early on, connecting on six consecutive treys which ballooned its lead from 10-9 to 39-19 with 8:18 left in the first half. Devonte Graham hit the final shot from distance in the mega run. Wayne Seldens bucket gave the Jayhawks a 51-32 lead at the break, and when Jordan Woodard capped a three-point play just over five minutes into the second half, the Sooners deficit was finally below double digits at 53-44. Game Notes Kansas shot a blistering 10-of-19 from long range and connected on 29- of-60 shots from the field overall (48.3 percent) ... Oklahoma converted 18- of-21 free throws but the Jayhawks were good on just 17-of-25 ... The Sooners dished out 13 assists as a team but committed 13 turnovers. KANSAS CITY, Kan. Braden Holtby Jersey . -- At any age, Jeff Gordon sure knows how to win. Nearly two decades after he burst onto the scene with his first victory, Gordon keeps taking checkered flags, storming to the lead in the final laps at Kansas Speedway on Saturday night for his first victory of the season and 89th overall in NASCARs top series. The 42-year-old Gordon held off a hard-charging Kevin Harvick on the final lap to move into the Chase for the Sprint Cup championship field. Gordon won for the first time since October at Martinsville and became the ninth driver to win in the first 11 races this season. He entered the race with the points lead, but exclaimed a weight was lifted off his shoulders as he crossed the finish line for his third Kansas victory. "Im just so proud of (the 24 team). They have been giving me the best race cars all year long," Gordon said. "I have been having so much fun. Im going to be 43 this year and I feel like Im 25 again. That is the way they make me feel." Kasey Kahne was third, followed by Joey Logano and Dale Earnhardt Jr. Danica Patrick was seventh for her best career Cup finish. Gordon built his points lead on the strength of four top-fives and seven top-10s in the first 10 races -- including second-place finishes at Texas and Richmond -- but he knew how much one win would ease pressure on his Hendrick Motorsports team. He got it under the lights at Kansas. "This is so sweet," he said. "What a huge weight lifted off this teams shoulders. We needed to get to Victory Lane." Gordon is celebrating the 20th anniversary of his first career Cup victory at Charlotte Motor Speedway in the prestigious Coca-Cola 600. He will go for his fourth Coca-Cola 600 victory May 25. At Daytona this year, Gordon insisted he was serious about considering retirement with a fifth championship. He looks every bit a title contender -- but said he feels like he could race until 50 if his cars are this stout. "The whole retirement thing I think is thrown out too much," he said. "I know Im somewhat to blame for that." After the start of the race was delayed 35 minutes by rain, the first Sprint Cup night race at Kansas soon left drivers in the dark after the lights went out on the backstretch. NASCAR polled drivers if they wanted to continue and they were good to go, with Kurt Busch and Carl Edwards among the many who said the track was bright enough to race. Harvick led the final 36 laps in his October win and led the first 41 on Saturday before briefly falling into the middle of the pack. Harvick worked his way to the front in the No. 4 Chevrolet and opened a commanding lead over Gordon and Logano. He led a race-high 119 laps in the 400-mile race -- small consolation once Gordon grabbed the lead with eight to go. With two wins already, Harvick has been a force in his first season at Stewart-Haas Racing, but his dominant Chevrolet ran out of gas on his last pit stop and lost time that he couldnt recover. "I should have been paying attention to my pit road lights and should have got off pit road better," he said. "I made a mistake at the end and it cost us a chance to stay out in front of the 24." Patrick had her best run of the season, spending most of the race nestled inside the top 10, and brought a needed jolt of electricity when she passed teammate Tony Stewart and Earnhardt to move into third with 95 laps left. Patrick hadnt finished better this season than 14th at Fontana and her lone top-10 in the Cup series was an eighth-place finish in the 2013 Daytona 500. She was shuffled back on a restart, costing her a top five. Patrick beamed in the garage after the kind of finish shed been striving for since her dazzling performance at Daytona more than a year ago. Crew chief Tony Gibson told her, "Chicks rule, huh?" "I know that we havent had the best of times, but we work hard for it," Patrick said. "This is the kind of stuff that materializes in wins. Weve just got to keep hanging around and doing what were doing. Im just proud of everyone for working really hard and believing in me." Sara Christians fifth-place finish in a 1949 race remains the best for a female driver in NASCARs top series. Jamie McMurray and David Gilliland both had their cars erupt in flames in separate accidents. Gilliland was slow to exit his No. 38 Ford and gingerly walked away from the smouldering wreckage. He was checked out and released from the infield care centre. "It was the hardest hit Ive had in a long time," he said. McMurray had a solid run derailed when he smacked the wall and the back of his No. 1 Chevrolet caught fire. "I heard a small pop, and then just lost all the steering and got into the fence," he said. ST. J.A. Happ Jersey . PETERSBURG, Fla. - It took the Tampa Bay Rays 11 innings into the third game of the series to come through with a big hit against the Oakland Athletics. Sean Rodriguez hit a three-run home run with two out in the 11th Thursday to lift the Rays to a 5-2 victory that ended their four-game losing streak — and Oaklands five-game winning streak. "I wouldnt say it would have been the end of the world if wed have lost that one, but the morale would have been a little lower," said Alex Cobb, who pitched 6 2-3 shutout innings in his first start since April 12. "It was a huge win for us. For Roddy to go off in that fashion and deliver that to us is a big boost that is very welcome." Rodriguezs team-leading fifth homer came off Luke Gregerson after Desmond Jennings two-out single had tied it against Dan Otero (4-1). "It was obviously good to get a win after the fact that we were able to go that many innings with the pitchers throwing as well as they did," Rodriguez said. Yeonis Cespedes sacrifice fly had given the As a 2-1 lead in the top of the 11th. Cespedes also drove in the first Oakland run with an RBI double in the ninth off Rays closer Grant Balfour. Josh Lueke (1-2) got the win after one inning of relief for the Rays, who had scored only four runs during their four-game losing streak. "It was great for our guys to do that," said manager Joe Maddon. "We needed some kind of a boost all night and we were foiled in our attempts." The Athletics lost for only the second time in 13 games. "Its always nice to win a series, but when youve won two and youre ahead, not being able to close it out is a little disappointing," said As manager Bob Melvin. "But you pick up and go on to tomorrow." Yunel Escobar drove in the Rays first run with a single in the seventh off Oakland starter Sonny Gray, who pitches eight innings and reduced his league-leading earned run average to 1.99. Cobb gave up three hits and two walks while striking out six after spending 35 days on the disabled list with a strained left oblique. The right-hander tied a franchise record with his third straight scoreless start. "It felt like for a while there might not be any runs scored," Melvin said. "Youve just got to wait out the starting pitcher and try to get to the bullpen." The Rays final out in the ninth came when Jennings was caught stealing. The original call of safe was overturned by a replay challenge that took two minutes and 13 seconds. NOTES: Rays manager Joe Maddon had struggling slugger Evan Longoria hit second for the second straight game, saying he wanted the third baseman to have a "try-and-get-on-base" attitude.
